Food
& wine You can organize or subdivide this tour in two
different parts: the food and the wine
Part
1 : The food.
Traditional
Indian recepies, Spanish, German and British influence: Chilean
cuisine is the reflection of the history of the country. The
reason for this tour is that the flavours of a region will
survive forever in our memory as well as its arts. Pastel de
choclo, humitas, cazuela, porotos granatos, empanadas de queso
or de mariscos, and eventually a wonderful dessert with manjar :
these are the magic words which will become familiar at the end
of our tour, and this is what we want to experience in the best
restaurants.
Considering
the extension of its territory, Chile has a wide variety of food:
seafood, meat, vegetables and tropical fruit. The pastries are
just unforgettable in Chile. With this tour we will learn how to
prepare a pastel de choclo or a dulce de leche, we will find the
best ice cream shop in town. But more than the recipies, what
will impress you is the quality and the flavour of each food :
just excellent.
We
will find fresh and convenient meals, where service, food and
service are just exquisite. But before lunch or dinner we will
go through the vast central market whose structure was built
entirely in England in 1868 and sent over to Chile. This is
unique as an experience today in all of South America.
Part
2: The wine.
Wine
is the pride of Chile. Visiting a vineyard in Chile is simply
unforgettable: you just have to take this tour and see the
gorgeous hills and haciendas where the best wines in world are
produced today to understand why it is so famous.
Families
of grapes which disappeared in Europe have survived in Chile!
Think of Camenere, one of the most celebrated wines of ancient
France: its grapes disappeared in Europe in the 18th Cent.
because of a parasite, and where long believed lost forever,
when they unexpectedly reappeared as surviving in this country,
almost as a miracle few years ago.
The
history of wine in Chile started in 1551 and ever since the
region proved to be one of the best areas in the world for the
geographical conditions: free from all sorts of parasites, with
the ideal climate, Chilean vineyards give us the quality of
wines in the world. With this tour we will reach directly the
best producers in the surroundings of Santiago, where the
natural side is unforgettable, but we will not neglect to
introduce you to a cultural organization directed by an
enologist promoting wine and the role of wine in the history and
culture of Chile. We will taste and understand why these wines
are worth to be the world famous.
