Santiago and its landscape

With this tour we will cross some centuries of architecture from the origins, understanding the characteristics and the techniques which affected the style of Santiago. Ancient and modern areas find a balance with the surrounding natural environment of parks and hills, dominated by the spectacular crown of the Andes. Through the history of the architecture and its most beautiful examples we can understand the desires and the psychology of the Santiago society together with its necessities.

We will enter three wonderful churches, go through the best examples of the residences of the colonial period and eventually touch the architecture of the politics, finding the best rooms for representation used by the State for foreign guests and ambassadors. The upper middle classes celebrated their fast by building the most important theatre in town and entire residential areas which tried to compete with the most modern districts of Europe and those of the United States at that time. We will find the areas of the artists and intellectuals, or follow the traces of Mr. Eiffel, who created the Eiffel tower in Paris, who was called over and worked a lot in Santiago.
